Salam everyone:)
Recently a friend asked me, ‘What will you do with your first paycheck?’
I hastily answered, ‘I will pay all my debts.’ It was a reflex thing, it was.
He laughed and joked that maybe he’ll book a weekend ticket to America and has some day relaxing there.
That sounds really nice indeed. But what he doesn’t know, I can’t live knowing that I owe so many things to others, things, which most are not in the physical shape of transactions of currency.
Yes, some of them are. Please remind me of any money that I owe you, dear people.
How lovely it will be that every paycheck that we receive, half of it, or most of them goes to Islam. More specifically, it goes to the effort to spread this Ar-Risalah to others. It goes to the costs of holding activities and programs that are created just, simply just, in its utter sense, to shine the light of deeper understanding and comprehension of this Ad-Deen, Al-Islam into the hearts of eager, anxious and submitting so-called ‘renewed’ Muslims, anywhere, whenever that money is needed.
How lovely.
And how amazing is that you wonder?
That you use most of the scholar money you received each month for Allah’s sake?
That you care not if your bank account may drops to the negative balance each month? (Be careful not to be charged with interest! That is NOT a good thing anyway!)
For you believe in His words that He has placed enough provision for you to last your lifetime, just as He has set aside enough provision for the birds that fly in the sky.
And you have felt it, you have seen it yourself, how He multiplies your wealth in abundance after periods of difficulties.
Yes! Wealth! Wealth!
Wealth I say!!
Tranquility! Happiness! Loving family and friends! Ease and courage to face your study! That giddy, cloudy-like feel while walking back home; that warmth blanket around your heart during the cold freezing days; that strong clench of fist inside deep in your pocket blazing with confidence; that when everyone else are stricken with worry and sadness, you realize that despite having no more penny or syillings to give, you are simply…content.
Content with being less.
You’re smiling instead, because today, you’re broke because your last 5 euro were given to Palestine.
How wealthy can you get then?
I always wonder how contradictory a Muslim is; between his physical being and his actions. Both of which speaks volume; but if we think of it, they simply, seems contradictory. The riches nowadays, spend so much for charity. But they look rich still. They act richly too.
While Sayyidina Abu Bakr spent for charity with his everything (leaving just Allah and Rasulullah SAW for his family), and then he walked the street of Madinah looking like a person who’s in need of charity himself. Him, Umar and Rasulullah SAW; all of them walked the streets tying stones to their stomachs trying to suppressed that hunger.
Subhanallah. Why oh why is that so? Why is that, despite that, Abu Bakr still is has many many more wealth after that that he could spend for Islam, again and again?
Isn’t that because Allah has multiplied his wealth again??
Because he wasn’t afraid of spending for Allah.
Because Allah has set aside enough provision for him.
For Allah multiply every one deed into 700 deeds.
The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allâh, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allâh gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower. Al-Baqarah 2:261
So he’ll spend what he has for His sake; as he is assured that he has enough.
So what should I do with my first paycheck you think?
Grab that chance to become Abu Bakr waaayyyyy before you become to his age peeps. He worked hard as a merchant to obtain wealth to spend for Allah; but us, just free as that, every month; 800 euro comes tumbling like a pachinko’s machine always on the ‘WIN WIN WIN’ roll. (Don’t waste your money!!)
Come on, be the younger version of Abu Bakr! Be that limited editions!!
At this stage you know yourself that arguing what you obtain now is due to your hard work all through high-school and colleges is just…well, pretty immature to say.
Wake up and smell that online back account. Can’t you see some lovely palace is being built for you in His Heaven? Don’t you want a place of your own that spreads out as vast as the earth can be? (Don’t tell me that you think the earth is not that big now; if you think it’s not; don’t need to travel around the world during winter or spring or summer then!)
Rather than using all the tax money paid for entertaining yourselves taking ‘Wuz ere’ and ‘Been there done that’-photos and collecting fridge magnets, I rather you spent my parents’ tax money for Allah’s sake. Honestly. Please. I’ll help your parents and you help mine. A really good deal, don’t ya think? (Even if we may be complete strangers)
Too much cheese can be detrimental. |
Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah for showing us His Path; for choosing us, for not letting us lost in the confusion anymore, between what’s wrong and what’s right; that by giving us His strength we walk on this path that not many men embraced; most of men are indeed in confusion and in danger of going astray if not for You who guided them!!
My dear Brothers and Sisters;
Every single penny spent on your quest to find Him is thousands, millions more better than one functioning heater blower during the storm that saves you from frostbite.
And even when you're already dried up with nothing more to sustain you; know that your real wealth is the richness of your faith inside your heart.
When your Faith is strong, even when others look at you with pity or sadness, you will just walk on ahead feeling good about everything.
It's them that worry about you. But you don't understand why they do.
Have you ever felt that way with Islam?
(What a loss if you haven't.)
It doesn’t have to be much; but if we sincerely ready and willing to go places and travel anywhere that Islam calls us to; it can be that room next door to learn Al-Quran with your friend, or a 30 minute walk to your weekly Quranic Circle; be happy that glad tidings are prayed for you by the inhabitants of the earth and heavens.
For those of us who feel like this ‘going places to seek knowledge’ has become a lil bit rusty; remind yourself that your heart seeks not for people’s acknowledgement. We just want His; His love and His mercy alone. That among all His slaves that He has bestowed the mercy of letting them lived and still lives on His earth; among them all, He sees you, that He won’t forsake you, no matter how lost, how stupid, how broken, how clumsy and how weak and sinful you are.
And like what we ask for in the last du’a of Mathurat; if we may lose our lives while travelling, may He bless us with His Jannah. So let’s not fret the travel, because that travel will become your jihad for His Jannah!
So before Allah cripple us with weaknesses, stand up and do something.
This life is our temporary abode; and we’re all on our journey back home.
Aren’t we all lost Superheroes?
Aren’t we all?
"You that finds your place by the side of Allah; you are not just anybody. You do not fear difficulty; you do not give in nor do you complain of the trials Allah has given you. Your heart is humble, your mind is calm, your vision is clear and your soul is thankful that Allah made it all possible. You are a believer, and you extraordinary." -Anonymous-
This is the Dunya indeed. Those who never taste this feeling, will be, soon. |
